The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program is a Small Business Administation (SBA) program designed to support innovation and technological advancement within small businesses. Established in 1982, the program encourages small businesses to engage in federal research and development (R&D) by providing funding and fostering commercialization of new technologies. Latest News
Currently, the SBIR/STTR Program is still awaiting reauthorization with a September 30 deadline looming. On September 15, 2025, the House passed H.R. 5100, which would extend the current authorization for one year.
