An Introduction To Terminations For Convenience
According to recent estimates, the Federal Government terminated more than 30,000 contracts between January and July 2025, and most of those contract terminations were reportedly terminations for convenience. For many government contractors, particularly small businesses and those new to federal government contracting, a termination notice can create significant uncertainty, which may compound an already difficult economic environment. To make matters even more challenging, the notices issued recently often demand that contractors, many of which are unfamiliar with the termination process, submit settlement proposals under expedited deadlines.
So in this webinar, Mark Amadeo provides an introduction to terminations for convenience with a focus on termination settlements, touching on one of the issues that may be of most concern when a government contractor receives a notice of termination - namely, how will the contractor be paid for work it already performed under the terminated contract.
