In June 2019, the U.S. Department of Defense unveiled the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification ("CMMC"), which is intended to reflect a unified standard against which the cyber hygiene and cybersecurity policies and practices of DoD contractors will be assessed. More recently, in January 2020, DoD posted on a website dedicated to CMMC its first written guidance on the certification requirements.
